365 Project: Day 131

Lately I feel like I'm waiting around for something to happen. I don't know what, I don't even know what I want to happen at this point. But still, I'm waiting, trying to figure it all out.
I'm still waiting for my motivation to return. I'm bored, unsettled, unsure. I don't know if I can wait much longer to figure all of this out before I explode. Its getting really frustrating and I feel like I'm wasting time. Days are just going by one by one with no distinction between them. I'm trying to wait patiently. Unfortunately patience is not a virtue I possess.  For once in my life I wish that something could just come easily. Effortlessly. Is it too much to ask for something amazing to just happen?

365 Project: Day 110

I changed the locks at my house today. Someone, somewhere out there has my purse, my house keys, my ID with my address, my cell phone, my debit card, and about 10 rolls of exposed medium format film.
My purse was thrown from the car while I was driving down the freeway last weekend. I don't even want to get into the details of how that happened. But, some jerk found it. How do I know that someone found it? Because they returned it like they should have? No, of course not. That would be too much to ask of our society. I found out because there was about $40 worth of games and rap/hip hop ringtones charged to my phone the following day.
It worries me a little that some person out there has my address and house keys, but it has been a week without incident so I'm sure its fine. However, I'm still changing the locks. You just never know.

365 Project: Day 53

As the saying goes, "When one door closes, another one opens." I don't like this saying. I understand that its meant to be encouraging, but it always sucks when a door closes in your face. Even if another opportunity eventually comes along, who is happy about losing their job, their security, a relationship, a chance at something better, etc? No one likes to be disappointed. I tend to dwell on the closed door for a while.

But then they also say "Opportunity knocks." So, wait, I'm confused. Which side of the door am I on again? Am I waiting for doors to open or am I waiting for opportunity to knock on my door?

Either way, all I know is there are opportunities all around us. You just have to either find them or create your own. I'm not going to waste any more of my time waiting around for a door to open or for the gentle rapping of opportunity coming to find me. I don't have the patience for that. Life is way too short. Instead, I'm going to do it my own way and break down as many doors as it takes to find the life I want.
