365 Project: Day 133

My back is killing me today. Its all achy and knotted up from sitting for too long. I've been working really hard lately, which means long hours in front of my computer. My eyes are so tired that the right one is starting to twitch...again.
Thank God I'm leaving town this weekend. It'll be nice to take a road trip and get away for a little while. I'm really looking forward to just getting in the car and driving. Plus, I'm going somewhere I've never been before with some of my favorite people. Its just what I need right now.

365 Project: Day 78

I am drawn to anything vintage or antique. There is something about owning things that are older than I am that I find appealing. Items hold history. They tell a story of a different time and they also hold the memories of the other people who owned them.

There are certain things that I particularly like. Vintage postcards (especially if there is a message written on them), old photographs, cameras, typewriters, buffets, vanities, ash trays, records and record players, chairs, anything from the 50s or 60s, lamps, desks, clothes and jewelry, metal serving trays, and stained glass windows in wooden frames. While I admire all of these things, I try not to own more than I can fit in my car so I very rarely buy them. The only things I really collect are vintage cameras, but in my room I have an antique desk, a 1950s telephone table, and a glass lamp probably from the 60s or 70s.

I bought this typewriter for $20 in a thrift store today. As soon as I saw it I had to have it. I can only imagine where it came from, who bought it, where they bought it, why they bought it, and what kinds of things they typed with it. Love letters, Dear John letters, resumes, formal requests, applications, school papers, essays, maybe a novel. I'll never know, but that's part of the charm. Whoever owned this typewriter took very good care of it. There is hardly a scratch on it. But I can tell that it is well used. All the paint is worn off around the nob on the right side that you turn to advance the paper. Someone was doing a lot of typing.

Now, how did this cute little typewriter end up sitting in a thrift store full of crap? There was seriously nothing but old, broken, dirty junk in this place. It was a disgusting mess in there. But, sitting on a table was this typewriter. I think maybe it was meant to be mine.

365 Project: Day 47

I'm exhausted. I had to lay down and close my eyes for a second. I needed to rest, even if I had to take my picture while doing so. November was a tough month full of travel, events, and loss. Now that I'm finally home, I have spent every second parked in front of my computer working away. But I'm making progress and getting a little closer to catching up. As of right now I am up to date on my 365 Project. That's one thing I can mark off my to do list.

I think this is the first picture I have taken wearing my glasses. Yes, I wear glasses. Not every day. My eye sight really isn't that bad. Although I should probably wear them more often than I do. I only wear them when my eyes feel tired from staring at the computer all day, to read something far away, or to drive at night. But I like them. I feel like they make me look more studious.

The world definitely looks much more clear through them. Everything seems so crisp and well defined. Even colors seem brighter. My vision completely changes just by putting on my glasses. I wish they made glasses that could make you see other things more clearly. Like, choices, or plans, goals, paths, the next step, or people's intentions. I would wear those glasses every day for sure.
