365 Project: Day 129

I love hotels. I love the little shampoos, the fold out stand that you put your suitcase on, the little fridge, seeing all the people who are traveling to and from who knows where...its great.

Think of all the people who have stayed in that room, from all over the place. Where were they going? Why did they stop there? Where had they been? They should keep a guest book in every single hotel room for people to write the story of their travels. That's a book I'd love to read.

365 Project: Day 112

I think I may have a problem. My camera collection has officially exceeded my available shelf space. Actually, I ran out of space a while ago. I've been finding creative ways of arranging my cameras so that I can cram as many of them as possible onto the limited shelf space I have in my tiny room. But now its really official. I am out of places to put them.

These cameras are my babies. I love them all. They all work. When I see one sitting in a thrift store I just can't stop myself from picking it up. I especially love Polaroid cameras. I got two new-to-me vintage Polaroid cameras a couple of weeks ago. They both work, but the Polaroids they take aren't made anymore. I was so excited when I saw them in the thrift store. They both came with the original hard case and a ton of little accessories and goodies to go with them. Whoever owned them must have really been into photography. They took really good care of these cameras and I am so thrilled that they now belong to me!

So here I am. All these cameras and nowhere to put them. What am I going to do? I'm not going to stop collecting them. That's for sure.

365 Project: Day 101

This is how I look these days. Hair all a mess. Eight out of my ten toes missing polish. But, damn, I'm tired. This is what a Sara Norris tired face looks like. Serious. Slightly annoyed. Going over a mental list of all the things that still need to get done today and here I am, taking pictures of myself.

I was outside today taking pictures of some new Modern Cowgirl merchandise and jumped in there real quick to snap a few of myself as well. This is my new strategy for my 365 project. I'm going to start taking my camera everywhere I go. Also, if I have a camera in my hand for any reason during the day, I'm taking a picture of myself. I think its the only way I'm going to make it through this project. It might be more interesting too. I'll take a picture while pumping gas, doing the dishes, grocery shopping, you know, whatever is happening during my day. Yep, I think this is the way to go. Much more practical than artistic, but, you never know. I might create my greatest masterpiece at the DMV. Oh man, that makes me smile.

365 Project: Day 95

World, meet my first love. My first real camera. My mom gave this camera to my dad as a gift when they were dating. My baby pictures were taken with it. I found it in a closet when I was about 13 years old.  It was just sitting there, waiting for me to grow up and discover it. It was just waiting to be mine. So it could play its part in my life. So it could help me fulfill my destiny. So it could be my first true love, my best friend, my outlet, my crutch, my ice breaker, my passion, my catalyst, my hero. It was just waiting to show me who I was meant to be.

This is my most cherished possession. It was the first step in my journey. Who would I be without it?

365 Project: Day 46

I collect vintage cameras. I have 14 in my collection right now. I'm picky about which ones I collect. I try to only collect cameras that still work. Right now, to my knowledge, I only have one camera that doesn't work.

I'm holding my Grandparents' Anscoflex II in the picture. It works. My Grandmother told me a long time ago that they had two old cameras that I could have, if she could ever find them. Well, while we were there going through my Grandfather's things, we found them.

The other camera she gave me is a Brownie Target Six-20. It works too. These are now the two most special cameras in my collection. Just knowing that many of my family pictures were taken with these cameras make them like treasures to me. I am so excited to have these. It means a lot that she would want to give them to me.

Golden

There is a new print available in my shop today!  Golden trees are everywhere during fall in Boston, but I thought this one was particularly beautiful.

Tree of yellow leaves.
They will all fall to the ground.
Crisp and crunchy sound.

"Golden" was taken on a walk through Boston Common. The park is so beautiful. Its one of the things that I miss most about living there.  I highly recommend that you take a stroll through this park if you haven't done so yet.  Put it on your life's to do list.

Quote for the Day:
"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever...it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything."

I'm in Love....with my new camera!

I just got a Polaroid SX70!  I don't think I have ever been this excited about anything that I got in the mail in my entire life!

Imagine my disappointment when I got home to find a little card in my mailbox announcing that my camera arrived, but it required signature confirmation and was being held hostage at the post office! Oh no!

I commute everyday and work a full time job, so 6:00 AM was the only time I could make it to the post office. For all who know me, I do not have to explain that I AM NOT a morning person. However, I made an exception for my new Polaroid friend and managed to drag myself down there at the crack of dawn.

My sleepy eyes perked right up as soon as I got that little box in my hands. I practically skipped back to my car! Of course I opened it right there in the parking lot! I had to use my car keys and a ball-point pen to tear through the packing tape. I must have looked like I was crazy.

Finally! There it was. In the early morning light, my new Polaroid and I met for the first time.  It was love at first sight.
