There's No Place Like Home

When someone orders a print from me I'm always thrilled. I pack each print up with love and send it off to find its new home. That little piece of me and my world is going to become part of someone else's life. Whether it be a gift for their loved one, or a present they bought for themselves...my print becomes a part of their home and their world.

There is nothing I love more than when its new owner sends me pictures of where my print has ended up. When Irene from Design StILes send me an email today I was so thrilled! She bought my "Once Upon a Time" print. Now I can see where it has found its new home.
Irene wrote a blog post today and included this picture. It looks amazing all frames up on her wall. Take a look at her blog post here.

Do you guys have pictures of where you've displayed my prints? I would LOVE to see them!
Thank you Irene...you made my day!

Visual Poetry

Just recently I have fallen in love with the poet Pablo Neruda. He was a Chilean poet who's real name was Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basoalto. He wrote under the pen name Pablo Neruda. His poetry was all originally written in spanish. It is amazingly beautiful, even when translated. I can't imagine what life would be like if every emotion I experienced was as intense as he describes his own feelings.

I am creating an entire collection of images called the "Visual Poetry Series" based on poetry that inspires me. The prints will be available with (or without if you prefer) lines from my favorite poems. This is the first of many to come.

The line that goes along with this print is from Pablo Neruda's Sonnet XVII.

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

Than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Hot Child in the City Triptyc

I like the way things look from above. I don't mind heights at all. I love to fly. I must always have a window seat so I can look out at the world below. I've been skydiving. I like standing on the rooftops of buildings. This is what San Francisco looks like from a hotel roofdeck.  Isn't it romantic...

My Hot Child in the City triptych print is now available in my Etsy shop.

He loves me...

...he loves me not.

I love flowers. Even when they're dying, they still manage to be beautiful.

Once Upon a Time...

Now, where do I begin? This blank page holds so much possibility. A poem, a novel, a letter...its all up to you and your imagination. What's your story?

Now this print is available in my Etsy shop!

Picture this

After many, many requests for framing options, I went looking all over Albuquerque for decorative and affordable frames. I think these vintage frames are the perfect complement to the nostalgic style of my photography. So now, selected prints are available in vintage frames! There are several different frames that will soon be available in my Etsy shop in addition to these.

Each frame has been cleaned up, but still has that aged and distressed vintage look. They are sealed in the back with brown framing paper to protect the prints. These frames can be propped up in a display or hung with the claw hanger on the back. I just love them. They remind me of the framed family pictures that hung in the hallway at my grandmother's house.

Tickled Pink

As far as rose bushes go, I think this one is my favorite. Its older than I am. This rose bush and I have a history together. I grew up admiring the beauty of its blooms. My grandmother would clip them off and remove all the thorns for me. She'd even wrap the stems in a wet paper towel for me to take them home.

All the sweetness of these roses is now available in my Tickled Pink print.

The Road Not Taken

How would your life have been different if you had only taken the other road? I wonder often where I would be now if I had made some different choices in my life. But I've come to realize, ultimately, even though there were some bumps, rough spots, and even places where the road was washed out,  I'm glad I made all the choices I did. I'm happy with where the road I chose has led me.

This picture reminds me of the Robert Frost poem, The Road Not Taken. I feel like this is the road less traveled, I have taken it, and it has made all the difference. This print is now available in my Etsy shop.

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood.
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The Breeze

Don't you love the sound of wind chimes on a warm breeze?

I remember standing in my Grandparents' yard and listening to the sound of an approaching breeze. The soft roar of the leaves rustling in the tree tops. The branches gently swaying, passing the wind from tree to tree. As it drifted closer, feeling the first puff of air brush across my cheek and fly past me, twisting through my hair. Then came the delicate sound of wind chimes. The calm of that moment has been captured and in "The Breeze". This print is now available in my Etsy shop.

Just a note - books!

Check out the new Just a Note - books from Sara Norris Photography! If you're like me, I make lists and notes to myself all day long, but I can NEVER find a piece of paper when I need it. I end up jotting things down either on my hand or on scrap papers that just get lost. Not anymore.
